One person who looks after your technology
Steady Hand IT is an independent IT and AI consultant serving small businesses in Charlotte, North Carolina, and remotely across the US. I handle everyday computer problems, set up and watch over security basics, and help you add AI tools safely, with fixed scopes and prices you can see before you call.
Most small offices have no IT department. The work gets done by whoever is least bad at computers, and it shows up as slow laptops, shared passwords, a backup nobody has tested, and a vague worry about getting hacked. That is the gap I fill.
Keep it running. Then put it to work.
Keep the computers running
Help desk, updates, backups, accounts, new-hire setup, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, printers and Wi-Fi. From $79 per user a month, or $125 an hour when you just need a fix.
Put AI to work, safely
A two-week assessment and one working automation for $1500. Answer drafting, document handling, scheduling and reporting, with clear rules about your data.
Worried about security first? Start with the Security Checkup ($495).
The Tech Health Check
Twelve plain questions about passwords, backups, access and AI. You get a rough score and the first things I would fix. No email needed, nothing is stored.
Built around the things that worry owners
You own everything
Your accounts, domains and passwords stay in your name. I keep a documented handover so you can leave any time and take it all with you.
No lock-in
Month to month. Fixed prices agreed before work starts. No surprise bills, no long contracts to escape.
No jargon, no upselling
I explain what I found and what it costs to fix. If you do not need something, I will say so.
Honest about size
I am one accountable person, not a 24/7 call center. Response time is one business day. For true round-the-clock needs, a larger provider is the better fit, and I will tell you.
AI with guardrails
Your customer data does not go into free consumer AI tools. I set up approved tools, a short written rule, and a human check on anything customer-facing.
Local when it matters
Onsite in the Charlotte area for setup and stubborn problems, remote for the everyday fixes anywhere in the US.
See the numbers before you call
Placeholders you can compare. Every engagement starts with a written scope and a fixed price.

Three steps, no pressure
Free 20-minute call
You tell me what is going on. I ask questions. No pitch, no credit card. If I am not the right fit, I will say so and suggest someone who is.
Written scope and fixed price
Within one business day you get a one-page plan: what I will do, what it costs, and how long it takes.
Work, handover, review
I do the work, document it, and check in. You always have the documentation and the keys.
Before you decide
Is my business too small for managed IT?
Three people is not too small. It is usually when the risks are highest and nobody owns them. That is why Starter Care starts at 3 users, and why single hours and one-time checkups are also available.
Will AI replace my staff or leak my data?
The work I do aims at removing repetitive chores, not people. Data stays out of free consumer tools, and anything customer-facing gets a human check. I put those rules in writing for you.
What if you are unavailable when something breaks?
I commit to a reply within one business day, and urgent issues get flagged on the contact form. If you need round-the-clock coverage, tell me up front and I will point you to a larger provider.
Do you work outside Charlotte?
Yes. Most work is remote, so anywhere in the US works. Onsite visits are for the Charlotte area.
